Promotion of clean cooking solutions in rural India by Infosys – VPA 1
Promotion of clean cooking solutions in rural India by Infosys – VPA 1
The VPA involves installation of biodigesters of capacity 2-3 m3 at the rural households of South Karnataka, India. The biogas produced from the biodigester will be used for cooking which replaces the traditional stoves that cause environmental degradation, emission of smoke and carbon dioxide.
The VPA also avoids methane emission from the manure management system by using the animal dung for the biogas production and subsequently burning biogas for cooking. In the baseline condition, the animal dung is dumped in the open pit that results in methane emission.
